Creativity is my muse; storytelling the means. The message comes through no matter the medium.
An award-winning journalist with decades of writing and media experience, I nearly flunked college due to its rigorous writing requirement (and undiagnosed ADHD). So, I'm infinitely grateful to the professors and, later, editors who tortured me with the high standards that molded me into the writer I am today.
Being diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder late in life was a defining moment that fundamentally improved how I live in this world of neurotypical people. That and several years volunteering with Eagle Mount -- a recreational program for differently abled people -- has led me to focus my work on telling the stories of people who are underrepresented in media and are therefore not well understood.
Known on the airwaves as JoDJ, I play an eclectic mix of music on KGLT radio and am an enthusiastic (albeit mediocre) triathlete living in the Rocky Mountains of Montana. I love all things yummy and cuddly and am open to considering all points of view. After all, communication leads to understanding. And understanding each other is the key to compassion and peace.
